Frequently Asked Questions
Dr Lim see patients with a wide range of lung and breathing problems, including chronic cough, asthma, COPD, lung infections (such as pneumonia and TB), bronchiectasis, breathlessness, snoring and possible sleep apnea, abnormal chest X-ray during work permit application or health screening, abnormal CT findings, and patients needing lung cancer screening.
It is common for chest X-rays done during work permit or medical screenings to show unexpected findings — such as old infection scars, small nodules, shadows, fibrotic changes, or pleural thickening. Dr Lim can help clarify whether the finding is harmless or requires further testing.
Walk-ins are accepted based on availability. A quick WhatsApp message is recommended so we can reserve the best possible slot for you.
Yes, lung function testing can often be arranged on the same visit.
You will receive specific instructions before the procedure, but in general:
– Do not eat or drink for 6 hours before
– Inform us about blood thinners, diabetes medications, or allergies
– Arrange for someone to accompany you home after sedation
All details will be explained during your consultation.
Chronic cough (more than 8 weeks) can have many causes, including asthma, airway sensitivity, reflux, sinus issues, infections, or even lung cancer. I will take a detailed history, examine you, and decide which tests are needed. The aim is to find the cause, not just suppress the cough.
Yes, Dr Lim see older children and teenagers for cough, wheeze, or breathing problems. For very young children or complex congenital issues, she may work together with or refer to a paediatric specialist when needed.
Yes, for suitable high-risk patients (for example, older age with a significant smoking history), Dr Lim can assess your risk and arrange low-dose CT screening according to international guidelines.
Some results (such as basic blood tests, spirometry, X-rays, CT scan) may be available on the same day if you come early of the day, while others (such as culture test, or biopsies) may take a few days. I will explain the expected timeline for your specific tests.
